| 内容記述 | Recent studies strongly support the view that the Okinawa Trough is an active backarc basin that has not yet undergone full spreading. The crust under the trough is still regarded to be continental. Extremely high heat flow (max. 1600 mW/m^<2>) has been measured at the deep small basin in the Middle Okinawa Trough. An assemblage of the active hydrothermal vent system, including hydrothermal mounds and associated chimneys, was discovered in the Middle Okinawa Trough in July, 1986. Such a hydrothermal vent system has not to be observed in backarc basins any where in the world. |
