日本産ヤマネコの保護と自然環境 Conservation of Wildcats in Japan and the Natural Environment 1000080117473 阿久沢, 正夫 AKUZAWA, Masao open access イリオモテヤマネコ ツシマヤマネコ 保護 里山 Iriomote wildcat Tsushima leopard cat conservation satoyama Iriomote wildcats and Tsushima leopard cats are rare animals that live only on Iriomote-jima island in Okinawa Prefecture and on Tsushima island in Nagasaki Prefecture, respectively. These two wildcats are so highly valued that Iriomote wildcats have been designated a national special natural monument and Tsushima leopard cats a national natural monument. There are estimated to be 80-100 Iriomote wildcats and 70-80 Tsushima leopard cats. Both are considered to be endangered species by the Environmental Agency of Japan, and extinction is feared especially in the case of Tsushima leopard cats.
