<dc:description>A research on the possible relationships between the pantothenic acid and the fish ovary maturation is treated in this paper. Using ayu and loach as the test fish, the maturity grades of the ovary were estimated by ovaryweight per cent and per total body. The pantothenic acid content per unit weight, of fish ovary varies in accordance with the degree of maturity ; the highest content is to be seen when the maturity degree has reached about 4%. Generally the amount of free formed pantothenic acid exceeds that of the conjugated one ; a sudden increase of the total pantothenic acid, especially the conjugated pantothenic acid, is to be brought forth at the maturation in full swing. It is suggested that the gradual accumulation of pantothenic acid is motivated by the maturation of the ovary, and that it is to be changed into the conjugated form at full maturation, playing a part in the metabolism of the ovary.</dc:description>
