Computed tomography revealed a left obturator hernia with incarcerated bowel within the hernial sac. We used a laparoscopic approach for correction, and found a strangulated, non-reducible obturator hernia; we then performed partial resection of the small bowel with the open technique. Transabdominal preperitoneal repair was completed using a polypropylene mesh plug following laparoscopic reduction. The patient’\ns postoperative recovery was uneventful, with no complications.
