Two rectangular space frame models are tested. One of them is horizontally loaded in the direction of one plane of the frame (parallel loading). The other is loaded in the direction of a 45 degree angle from one plane of the frame (diagonal loading). Both frames are designed to collapse under the conditions that the columns remain in elastic range during the loading. Analysis of the ultimate strength is also done based on the plastic hinge method. The experimental results are discussed in comparison with their analytically estimated values.
