With a view to utilizing the pumping action for engineering\npurposes (Reynolds number : order of 10^3), the author performed measurement of induced flow\nvelocity, hull resistance test, and quasi-self propulsion test by use of a twin hull ship model\nequipped with a peristaltic wave generator on the inner wall, and obtained the following\ninformation :\nIn the case amplitude (ε) was 0.5cm, the mean induced flow velocity was highest when\namplitude ratio (α) was 6 and travelling wave velocity (c) was 60cm/sec, being 14.1cm/sec.\nIt is presumed from the hull resistance test results that the total resistance of the hulls was\n4.26gr and effective horsepower (E.H.P) was 43.9×10^{-7} P.S. when α was 6, c was 70cm/sec, and ship velocity was 7.73cm/sec.\nThe quasi-self propulsion test results show that induced flow velocity and ship velocity\nincreased with an increase in c regardless of α, suggesting that α has little effect on the both\nvelocities.
