Firstly, the effect of pacemaker use on the race is discussed. The use of pacemaker contributes to the progress of winning records, but alienates the pace-making ability on the side of runners. On the 42.195 km long distance race it is an especially vital factor how runners do pacing. The winning and records which are achieved by runners with the help of pacemakers are not authorized. The case of femalerunners with male pacemakers is not authorized by the same token. Secondly, the eligibility of pacemakers' participation in marathon races is discussed. The pacemakers are selected because they have almost the same ability as a potential winner of the race. The style of pacemaker's participation that presupposes leaving the track in advance in spite of his completion ability is against the ethics of marathon participation. It is presumed that the pacemaker lacks the participantqualification of runner. In conclusion the use of pacemaker in marathon race is against the nature of the marathon race.}, pages = {27--36}, title = {ペースメーカーとマラソン競技論}, volume = {63}, year = {} }
