The station was off Tosa, 85 miles south of Ashizuri Misaki, at 31°22'N., 133°09'E. The present specimen is a female, 475 mm long with the caudal torn off at tip. Although the specimen is considerably damaged, it should probably be identified with Eurypharynx pelecanoides (VAILLANT), as it agrees in the main characteristics of the species given by BERTIN (1934). The measurements and counts of the specimen are tabulated (Table 1). The present specimen may likely represent the first record of the Gulper-Eel from adjacent water of Japan, and its northernmost occurence of western Pacific.}, pages = {61--63}, title = {土佐沖で採集されたペリカンウナギモドキ(新称),Eurypharynx pelecanoides (VAILLANT)}, volume = {12}, year = {} }
