Their localities and habitats were reported in detail. Main locality names are as follows; Mahajanga, Marovoay, Ambondramamy, Mampikony, Port Berge, Antsohihy, Bealanana, Maevatanana, Antananarivo, Ambatondrazaka, Tamatabe. They have a creeping growth in pond, swamp, embankment, irrigation canal, small stream. Some populations are growing sympatrically with cultivated species, Oryza sativa L., and are showing temporal isolation. From the analyses of unhusked grain characters, average values and the standard deviations in the whole strains were found to be 7.93mm±0.52, 2.26mm±0.19, 1.52mm±0.10, 3.54±0.26, 5.26±0.30 and 1.50±0.09 in length, width, thickness, ratios of length to width, of length to thickness, and of width to thickness, respectively. In the analyses of the data obtained in the field surveies, morphological and genetical characters, ecotypic and varietal differentiations could be discussed in the future.}, pages = {18--37}, title = {Distribution and Grain Morphology of Wild Rice Collected in Madagascar, 1988}, volume = {18}, year = {} }
