Their localities and habitats were reported in detail. Main\nlocality names are as follows; Mahajanga, Marovoay, Ambondramamy, Mampikony,\nPort Berge, Antsohihy, Bealanana, Maevatanana, Antananarivo, Ambatondrazaka,\nTamatabe. They have a creeping growth in pond, swamp, embankment, irrigation canal,\nsmall stream. Some populations are growing sympatrically with cultivated species, Oryza\nsativa L., and are showing temporal isolation.\nFrom the analyses of unhusked grain characters, average values and the standard\ndeviations in the whole strains were found to be 7.93mm±0.52, 2.26mm±0.19, 1.52mm±0.10, 3.54±0.26, 5.26±0.30 and 1.50±0.09 in length, width, thickness, ratios of\nlength to width, of length to thickness, and of width to thickness, respectively.\nIn the analyses of the data obtained in the field surveies, morphological and genetical\ncharacters, ecotypic and varietal differentiations
