The paper describes the proper motor structure and drive circuit for a large capacity pulse motor. The structure of armature winding is improved for the purpose of decreasing copper loss. The new drive circuit using a current controlled PWM inverter is proposed. There are four power transistors in the inverter, and four phase armature windings are connected in series with the power transistors respectively. The voltage and current waveforms and the steady atate characteristics of the pull-out torques etc. are obtained from analysis on the heteropolar type pulse motor.
