The specimens described in detail herein represent the first records of the species from the Satsunan Islands. In addition, three specimens (316.0–386.0 mm standard length) of Saloptia powelli Smith, 1964, whose northern limit of distributional range had been considered to be Yoron-jima island, in the Amami Islands, were collected from the north of the Tokara Islands.
