Chinese motorcycle industry established the technological infrastructure during the time of technical cooperation with foreign companies, and with the background of the existence of enormous potential need, foreign companies expanded into China and the overall scale of production also expanded. In 1990s, the export of motorcycle and foreign direct investment of state-owned companies began. Especially from 2000s, the export of motorcycle began in full-scale, and Chinese private companies have entered into foreign direct investments. According to the product cycle theory, foreign direct investments were made in the period of its maturity time and reimportation occurs, but in the case of Chinese motorcycle industry, the export as well as foreign direct investments begin in the growth period, but reimportation was not seen. Thus, unusual market behaviors in Chinese motorcycle industry have been seen through product cycle theory.
