Participation in the play behavior, which accounts for much of a child’s life, plays an important role in pediatric rehabilitation services. In order to examine the method of play behavior assessment, the results of a child play behavior questionnaire (3 to 5 years old; 242 girls & 260 boys, 14 items for girls & 13 items for boys) were analyzed using the item response theory of a modern test theory. Based on the item characteristics, the ability parameters of the play behavior were estimated. It was shown that the average of the ability parameters for each age increased linearly with the child’s age.
