cingulata (Gmelin.1790) は，フトヘナタリ科に属する巻貝で，内湾の干潮帯に生息する．そのヘナタリにおける季節のサイズ分布を研究した．ヘナタリの殻高は20–30 mm で，殻の形態は輪郭が直線的な円錐形をしており，体層の右には太く張り出した縦張肋があり，前面は平坦になる．外唇は大きくそりかえり，ウミニナの仲間では特徴的な口の形である．調査は鹿児島県鹿児島市喜入町を流れる愛宕川の河口干潟（23°23′ Ｎ , 130°33′ Ｅ）調査区の設置はマングローブ林の植生がないところから愛宕川の下流に向かいそれぞれstation E，station F を約20 m の間隔を空け設置した．調査方法は2005 年1–12 月の期間に毎月1 回，大潮または中潮の日の干潮時に調査区内の個体採集を行った．各station に50 × 50 のコドラート内の砂泥を深さ2 cm まで掘り，掘りあげた砂泥を1.5 mm のふるいで洗い流し，残ったものを冷凍保存した．その後，出現個体数を記録した．さらに，ヘナタリについてのみ殻幅をノギスを使い，0.1 mm 単位で計測した．サイズ頻度分布の季節変化結果から，各station とも2–4 月は10 mm 以下の稚貝でピークをつくっているが夏季を過ぎる頃から成貝のグループに融合されていった．ω 指数結果はヘナタリーウミニナは年間を通じて数値がマイナスを示す月がほぼ見られなかったのに対して，ウミニナーカワアイ・ヘナタリーカワアイは年間を通じて数値が大きいもので₋0.4 までだがマイナスを示す月が多く見られた．密度変化の結果はウミニナとヘナタリに関してはい年を通じて大きな変化は見られなかった．カワアイに関しては季節に関係なく増減が見られた．これらの結果より各station でのヘナタリは2–4 月にかけて10–11 月に新規加入した個体が多く出現するようになり，6 月以降成長していることがわかった．また，それらの稚貝は成長し15 mm 以上の成貝グループに融合されていくと考えられる．また，ω
