 note = {鹿児島を代表する民俗学者である下野敏見（1929年－2022年）は、地域に関する多くの蔵書や民俗資料を残した。現在、その膨大な量の資料のうち種子島に関する資料については、西之表市が所有し、その管理下に置かれ、整理を待つ状態である。
　また、下野は高校教員時代に県内各地に赴任し、生徒とともに郷土に関して調査・研究を行っていた。鹿児島県立種子島高等学校教諭時代にも同校に郷土研究部を作り、その研究成果を『種子島研究』という冊子にまとめていた。この『種子島研究』は、高校生が作成したものとしては質量ともに素晴らしい内容であると評された。
　だが、『種子島研究』第１号の刊行からちょうど60年が経過し、その冊子自体も多くは現存しておらず、残されたものの保管状態も必ずしも良いとはいえない現実がある。また、そのような状態であるため、この冊子を地域の学びや活性化などに活用するという動きもほとんどみられない。
　以上を踏まえ、下野の遺した貴重な遺産を探索し、可能な限り電子アーカイヴ化を行い、学校教育や社会教育における教材として活用できるようにすることを目的として調査および研究活動を実施する。これは、「地域の財産」である重要な文化資源を保全し活用を目指すプロジェクトである。
　その第１歩として上記の『種子島研究』に焦点を合わせ、以下の活動を行う。すなわち、①冊子の所在と状態を確認する、②その通巻の内容を整理する（総目次の作成）、③可能な限り当時の執筆者を訪ねヒアリング調査を行う、④その内容の電子化を進めアーカイヴする、⑤このアーカイヴを活用するために必要な法的処理（権利関係）の整理を行う、⑥実際に学校教育にこれを活用する、⑦将来的には種子島の地域活性化に資する活用の提案を行う、である。, Shimono, Toshimi (1929-2022), a leading folklorist in Kagoshima Area, left behind a large collection
of books and folklore materials related to the region. Currently, of the vast amount of materials, those related to Tanegashima Island are in the possession of Nishinoomote City and under its control, awaiting arrangement.
　When Shimono was an upper secondary school teacher, he was posted to various places in the prefecture, where he established a locality research club and conducted research on his hometown with his students. When he was a teacher at a school in Tanegashima Island, he also established a local studies club at the school and compiled the results of his research in a booklet entitled“ Tanegashima Kenkyu” (It means“ Study on Tanegashima Island”). “ Tanegashima Kenkyu” was praised as having excellent content, both in terms of quality and quantity, for a work written by secondary school students.
　However, exactly 60 years have passed since the first issue of“ Tanegashima Kenkyu” was published, and not many of the booklets themselves are still in existence, and those that are left behind are not necessarily in good condition. In addition, because of this state of affairs, there has been little movement to utilize the booklets for learning and revitalizing the local community.
　In light of the above, we will conduct surveys and research activities with the aim of exploring the valuable heritage of Shimono, archiving it electronically as much as possible, and making it available as educational material for school and social education. This is a project that aims to preserve and utilize important cultural resources that are“ community assets”
 　As a first step, we will focus on the above-mentioned “Tanegashima Kenkyu” and conduct the following activities. The following activities will be undertaken: (1) checking the location and condition of the booklets, (2) organizing the contents of the volumes (creating a general table of contents), (3) visiting and interviewing the authors as much as possible, (4) digitizing and archiving the contents, (5) organizing the legal procedures (rights) necessary for utilizing this archives, (6) actual using the archives for school education, and (7) in the future, using the archives for the activities to contribute the regional revitalization in Tanegashima Island.},
