In Japanese waters, this species has been recorded from Fukushima to Kagoshima prefectures in the Pacific coast, Niigata to Fukuoka prefectures in the Sea of Japan coast, Nagasaki to Kagoshima prefectures in the East China Sea coast, Seto Inland Sea, and the Izu, Zunan, Ogasawara, Osumi, Amami, Okinawa, and Yaeyama islands.
