In Japanese waters, G. albimarginatus has been previously recorded from the Izu Islands (Miyake-jima and Hachijo-jima islands), Wakayama Prefecture, Hyuga-nada sea, Tanega-shima island, Kusagaki Islands, and the vicinity of Okinawa-jima island.
