Though C. magnostrata is an endemic freshwater fish species of Lake Biwa-Yodo River basin, it is also recorded from Tokyo Metropolis, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Gifu, Aichi, Fukui, Nara, Wakayama and Yamaguchi prefectures as a domestic-introduced species. Thus, the specimen from the Kumozu River represents the first record of C. magnostriata from the prefecture. In addition, two male specimens (72.3–72.6 mm SL) collected from the Wara River of Kiso River System, Gifu Prefecture on 31 August 1924 and deposited in the Department of Zoology, the University Museum, the University of Tokyo (ZUMT), represent the oldest records of C. magnostriata in the prefecture.
