However, the reed valve is installed in the intake passage and yields suction resistances. Studies of the effects of a reed petal on the engine performance have been carried out for reducing the suction resistances. To clarify the influences of the configuration of the reed blocks on the charging characteristics, this paper described the results of firing tests using 5 different reed blocks with similar reed petals. In addition, 4 different reed valves were experimentally installed in models in the steady flow for obtaining fundamental data.
