 note = {Two extensive tributary systems drain nearly one third of the mainland PNG of an
area of approximately 0.45 million km^<2>. At commercial and particularly subsistence
levels, the tilapia fishery (Oreochromis mossambica) is important in the Sepik River system and the giant perch fishery (Lates calcarifer) in the Fly River system. Two species of fish, Cyprinus carpio and Salmo gairdneri, are used for aquaculture in the Highlands.
Various constraints against development of these fisheries are discussed.},
