The seawater samples for observation were collected from 1m and 50m depth\nlayers at the stations. The range of numbers of heterotrophic bacterial cells in the seawater\nsamples was below 10^[2] cfu/ml. The datum suggests that the region is oligotrophic zone. In\nthe generic compositions of bacterial strains isolated from each sample, Pseudomonas and Vibrio\npredominanted in all samples, and Pseudomonas of them was the most dominant in a large\nnumber of samples. Phage sensitive strains were found mostly in Pseudomonas and\nVibrio. One of them, 48K-G107 (Pseudomonas)-phage system was distributed widely at all\nstations, and another one, 48K-C106 (Vibrio compbellii)-phage system was distributed as a\nresident in water mass of Kuroshio. The latter will be utilized as a microbiological indicator of\nKuroshio.
