Gastric emptying was significantly delayed in the ingestion. Gastric myoelectrical activity was significantly suppressed during mastication and increased gradually in the post-mastication phase. A decrease in the high-frequency power of heart rate variability occurred coincidentally with gastric myoelectrical activity suppression.
