 note = {The international seminar on sustainable aquaculture and environment, which is one of the activities of the Core University Program between the Faculties of Fisheries, Kagoshima University and the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, sponsored by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), was held on October 16 and 17, 2004 at Inamori Memorial Hall, Kagoshima University. The participants consisted of members of the Core University Program, selected on the basis of the outcomes for their cooperative researches, and invited speakers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Twenty-two papers were presented comprising several outcomes that had been expected in the beginning of the program: methodology for environment-friendly seed production, improved culture techniques for sustainable biological reproduction, and development of environment-friendly and disease resistant feeds.},
