After that, an improved method for its extraction has been devised, and a pure white powder which was used intact as medicine was obtained. By the studies on the medicinal function of marine animal-insulin, it was ascertained that the insulin, alike the one obtained froln oxen, had much favorable effect for the tratment of diabetic symptoms of rabbits, which were induced by the administration of glucose (peros), adrenalin or alloxan (injection). Sargalin, a basic compound newly isolated from Sdrgassum confusum Ag., has its molecular formula C20H24O8N4K. As a rnedicinal function, the sargalin exhibits the blood-sllgar lowering property and when injected tegether with insulin to the animals, intensified its effectiveness increasingly. Another new bromic phenol compound was also isolated from Symphocladia gracilis Falk., molecular formula of which was C6H5O4Br. By the studies on the medicinal function, this bromic phenol was shown to be distinctively effective to the round worm (Ascaris lumbricoides) as a vermifuge; its effective concentraticn lies 0.03-0.05% in Bunge's solution. The author guessed that the phenol was one of the vermifugal components of sea weeds. It was also proved that bromic-phenol shows nearly as much inhibiting action as N.D.G. A. against the oxidation of vitamin A.}, pages = {71--79}, title = {海産動植物特殊成分の化学的性質並びに其の薬理作用に関する研究(要約)}, volume = {2}, year = {} }
