The Samples collected were filtered, the residues were dried and weighed, and the filtrates were analyzed for pH, SO_4^<2->, Cl^- and water-soluble matter. The amounts of sulfur oxides absorbed on PbO_2-candles at 19 locations for a month were also determined. The highest volume of volcanic ashes, 16,478 ton/km^<2> ・ month, was recorded at Kokuminshukusha-Sakurajimaso in August. This value was the highest in those recorded during the last 4 years.
