 note = {The Hachigastu-odori are the dances of ancestor worship, thanks and prayer for rich harvests traditionally performed in Amami Island. They have become symbols of inhabitants' consciousness in particular villages. But some villages have forgotten their Hachigatsu-odori. On the other hand some of the people who have left their villages to live elsewhere have conserved them. The purpose of this survey is to report the present condition of Hachigatsu-odori and their conservation in Kasari village.},
