The oral streptococci tested were capable of invading HAECs. HAECs invaded by one of four kinds of oral streptococci including cariogenic bacterium produced more cytokine(s) than non-invaded HAECs. These results suggest that oral streptococci may participate in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.},
