We identified the existence of several patients with mood disorder or schizophrenia who carry heterozygous, potentially pathogenic mutations in neuroacanthocytosis-related genes. This suggests that neuroacanthocytosis-related-genes might be involved in the pathogenesis of these psychiatric disorders.
