| 内容記述 | これまで,日本人の生活とともにあった寺院が近年,姿を消しつつある。その多くが,過疎地域にみられるため,廃寺の主たる要因は過疎問題であるかのように捉えられがちである。もちろん,過疎による人口減が寺院経営に与える影響は大きい。しかし,過疎が唯一の要因であるといえるのか疑念を残す。そこで,本論では,時間的・地域的偏差が少ないとされる真宗寺院を中心に事例を取りあげ,真宗王国と呼ばれる鹿児島県と富山県,そして広島県の事例を合わせ,その経緯と寺院組織について考察した。過疎問題は確かに重大な要因の一つであるが,それはあくまで寺院組織を取りまく社会環境の変化の一つであり,社会環境の変化は,常に繰り返されてきたことである。一方,本論では,寺院組織の構造的問題,つまり寺院組織の体制に歪みが生じてきたことを指摘した。それはまさに,社会環境の変化に対応できない寺院組織の姿をあらわすものである。例えば, 鹿児島県の｢番役｣, 富山県にみる｢寺中制度｣, そして広島県にみる｢けきょう｣の問題である｡これらの制度は, 寺院の興隆過程において, 檀家からのニーズに応える形で発達した制度であった｡しかし, 時代が変わり檀家の意識も変わった｡これまで, 葬儀を中心とした宗教儀礼を主な役割として, 江戸時代より続く寺檀制度を基礎に, 檀家から支えられてきた寺院である｡しかし, 檀家側の宗教離れや葬送儀礼の変化により現在, 寺院の期待される役割は, 変わりつつある｡だが一方で, 寺院は, これまでの体制に縛られ, 檀家からのニーズに応えられてはいえない｡それが, 現代の廃寺の根本要因にある｡つまり, 廃寺の要因を過疎問題や檀家の意識変化など, 社会環境の変化と捉えていては生産的な議論には至らない｡社会環境の変化は, 常に起こることであり, 長い歴史を持つ寺院はその都度,乗り越えてきた問題である｡そこで, 本論は, 廃寺の要因を寺院組織内に求め, それを｢内的要因｣と定義し, 問題解決をめざすものである｡ | |||||

| 内容記述 | In recent years, the Buddhist temples which have existed along with the lives of Japanese people are gradually disappearing. In the previous studies, the main cause for the abolished temples have been discussed in relation to depopulation, since most of the decrease of the temples can be seen in depopulating areas. Of course, the depopulation would have a greater impact on the management of temples, however, the issues on the inner problems of the temples including organizational structure have not fully been examined. Thus, in the paper, I will show the process of shutting down of the temples through the cases of the 'Shinsyu' temples which are considered to be of little deviation in terms of time and locale in comparison with other Buddhist sects. Then I will discuss about the structure of each temple as a main cause for shutting down of the temples. In conclusion, I will argue that the way of the conventional structure of the temple organization is not responding well to the current changes of the social environment, and that innovation in temple management is required for preventing the shutting down of the temples. |
