| 内容記述 | 大学同窓会とは、大学関係者が大学や他関係者との関係を形成し、維持する場である。特に大学の卒業生は、大学同窓会への参加を通して、大学や大学時代の友人との関係を維持し、個人のプライベートを充実させるための情報交換を行っている。こうした場は、時に大学卒業生のビジネスチャンスを生み出すことさえある。 こうした背景から、大学同窓会は今や社会的に重要な存在であると認識されている。その一方で、従来の研究では、社会的価値を持つ大学同窓会の特徴を定量的に検討したものはほとんど見当たらない。大学同窓会における参加者間の関係構造や相互作用そのものを定量的に検討することが外部の研究者にとって困難だったからである。 本研究は、大学同窓会における参加者間の関係構造（ネットワーク）に着目し、大学同窓会の特徴を定量的に解明することを目的とした。具体的には、大学同窓会誌を活用して、大学同窓会会合における話題提供者を特定し、話題提供者を中心とした参加者間の紐帯の強さを明らかにすることを目的とした。 調査対象は、早稲田大学のある特定の学年の同窓会として開催された1957年12月～1967年８月の約10年間の会合（96回）とした。早稲田大学の同窓会は、一般でも入手可能な同窓会誌を発行している。そして本研究で調査対象とした学年の同窓会は、ネットワーク分析を可能とする長期にわたる欠損のほぼないデータを収集することができたものである。 分析は、次の手順で行った。まず、同窓会誌に掲載された会合記録の開催日時と参加者情報をもとに、各会合において、全ての参加者間の紐帯の強さを定量的に算出し、紐帯の強さの分布を観察した。次に、会合記録に記載された情報をもとに各会合の話題提供者を特定し、各提供者と他の参加者との紐帯の強さを定量的に算出し、その会合の参加者間の平均的な紐帯の強さと比較した。 これらの分析の結果、次の２点が明らかになった。第１に、各会合において、ほとんどの参加者間の紐帯の強さは、弱いものであった。第２に、各会合の話題提供者と他の参加者との紐帯の強さは、各会合における参加者間の平均的な紐帯の強さよりも弱いことが示された。 これらの結果は、大学同窓会の会合が全体として弱い紐帯の参加者らで構成されており、特に会合における話題提供者は参加者間の中でも極めて弱い紐帯をもつことを示すものであった。 |

| 内容記述 | The university alumni association is the venue for people with ties to the university to form and maintain collegiate relationships and address other persons' concerns. In particular, graduates maintain their relationships with the university and friends made there and exchange information to enhance their personal lives by participating in the university alumni association. The association even produces business opportunities for university graduates. Against this background, the university alumni association is now acknowledged as an important societal organization. However, previous academic studies have rarely examined the characteristics of university alumni associations that have social value quantitatively, perhaps because it was difficult for external researchers to examine relationships and interactions between university alumni participants quantitatively. This study was focused on the relationships (network) between university alumni association participants; the aim was to examine the characteristics of university alumni associations quantitatively. Specifically, university alumni association yearbooks were used in this study, and the topic providers for the alumni associations were identified. The aim was to examine the strength of social bonds among participants and topic providers quantitatively. The survey covered 96 alumni association meetings held over a period of about 10 years (December 1957–August 1967) for a particular grade at Waseda University. The Waseda University Alumni Association publishes a publicly available alumni yearbook. The alumni associations for the grade surveyed in this study were the ones for which we were able to collect long-term, non-deficient data that allowed us to conduct a network analysis. The analysis was carried out according to the following procedure. First, the strength of the quantitative ties between participants at each meeting was calculated based on the date and time of the meeting and participant information in the meeting records published in the alumni magazine. Next, the topic providers for each meeting were identified based on the information provided in the meeting records, and the strength of the ties between each provider and the other participants was calculated quantitatively. The results of these analyses revealed the following. First, the strength of the ties between participants at each meeting of the Waseda University Alumni Association was mostly weak. Second, the strength of the ties between the topic provider and other participants at each meeting was weaker than the ties between the other participants. These results indicate that the university alumni association meetings as a whole were attended by participants with weak ties, and the topic presenters at the meetings had very weak ties with the participants. |
