| 内容記述 | Planaxis sulcatus (Born,1778) belonging to the Planaxidae is a tidal snail, is distributed along the west coast of the Pacific Ocean from Honshu to Kyushu, Japan. Seasonal change in the the pattern of internal growth of the shell of this species were investigated in a tidal zone of Sakurajima, Kagoshima, Japan. Shell samples were collected monthly from Decmber 2021 to November 2022 in the tidal flat along the Sakurajima coast of Sakurajima in Kagoshima Bay. Frequency distributions of shell size showed that newly juveniles appeared in spring. This species matures in the second year Growth of shell stops in individual with Lip formation. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 鹿児島県鹿児島市の桜島に位置する袴腰海岸は，1914 年の大正噴火で噴出した溶岩で形成された岩礁性の転石海岸である．袴腰海岸には，複数の肉食性貝類が生息しており，ゴマフニナ Planaxis sulcatus (Born,1778) もその 1 つである．ゴマフニナは，腹足綱ゴマフニナ科に属する巻貝で，房総半島以南，インド，西太平洋域に分布し，潮間帯下部の岩礁上に生息している．桜島袴腰海岸には，比較的多くのゴマフニナの生息が認められる．そこで本研究では，ゴマフニナの生活史を明らかにする目的の一つとして季節変動に伴う殻高サイズの頻度分布の季節変動に関する調査を行った．殻高と個体数のヒストグラムから，ゴマフニナの新規個体は冬から春にかけて加入してくると推測できた．また，サイズピークが 4 月から 9 月に比べ 10 月から 3 月は小さくなっていることから，冬の間成長スピードが遅くなると考えられた．本種は，2 年目に殻口にリップが形成され，殻成長が停止し，成熟すると推定された． | |||||
