| 内容記述 | A single specimen (308.3 mm standard length) of Platycephalus indicus (Linnaeus, 1758), widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific from the east coast of Africa to southern Japan, was collected from Tanega-shima island in the Osumi Islands (northern Ryukyu Archipelago), Japan. In Japanese water, P. indicus has previously been recorded only from the Amami, Okinawa and Yaeyama islands (middle and southern Ryukyu Archipelago). Thus, this specimen, described herein in detail, represents the first record from the Osumi Islands and the northernmost record for the species. The standard Japanese name for the species is assessed in this study. | |||||||||||||
