| 内容記述 | Ninety-three specimens (16.8–38.3 mm SL) of Luciogobius sp. 16 sensu Shibukawa et al. (2019) were collected from the river mouths completely or almost closed by deposited gravels and riverbanks with underflow waters in southern Kyushu (Miyazaki Prefecture and mainland of Kagoshima Prefecture), and the Yaku-shima island (Osumi Islands). This species has previously been recorded only from Shizuoka and Wakayama prefectures on the Pacific coast of central Honshu. Thus, the present specimens represent the first records of the species from Kyushu and the Osumi Islands, the Yaku-shima specimens being the southernmost records for the species. Luciogobius sp. 16 is very similar to Luciogobius sp. 14 sensu Shibukawa et al. (2019) in meristic counts and the fresh coloration, but differs from the latter in some body proportions: relatively shorter head, snout, pre-pelvic-fin, dorsal-fin longest ray, pelvic-fin, and caudal-fin lengths. Genetic distances for 120 bp of the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene among Luciogobius sp. 16 from the Osumi and Satsuma peninsulas (Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Kyushu), and Luciogobius sp. 14 from Kanagawa to Shizuoka prefectures (Pacific coast of central Honshu) were 1.7–2.5% and the two species belonged to different groups in the neighbor joining tree based on the genetic distances estimated from the partial mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene sequences. In addition, two geographic morphotypes were recognized in Luciogobius sp. 16 from the East China Sea (southwestern Kyushu and Yaku-shima island) and the Pacific coast of Japan (southwestern Kyushu). The populations between the East China Sea and the Pacific coast of Japan were different in the frequency of modally pectoral-fin rays and the presence or absence of a free ray on the uppermost part of the pectoral fin (free ray of Luciogobius sp. 16 was absent in all specimens smaller than 25.0 mm SL). Although some individuals of the East China Sea population with a free ray on the upper pectoral fin were similar to Luciogobius sp. 14, they differed from the latter in the above-mentioned morphometrics, lower count of dorsal-, anal-, and pectoral-fin rays, and higher count of vertebrae. In addition, specimens from the Osumi Peninsula differed from specimens of the species from other localities in lacking clear ridges on the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the caudal peduncle. | |||||||||||||
