| 内容記述 | Two specimens (365.8–526.2 mm total length) of a snake eel, Brachysomophis crocodilinus (Ophichthidae), were collected from the south coast of Satsuma Peninsula (Kagoshima mainland) and Tokuno-shima island (Amami Islands), Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Additionally, one specimen (304.8 mm total length) collected from Yoron-jima island (Amami Islands), Kagoshima Prefecture, on 14 June 1991 was identified here as B. crocodilinus. Although B. crocodilinus has the widest distribution in the genus, reliable records in Japanese waters have been limited, known only from Okinoerabu-jima island (Amami Islands), Sesoko-jima island (Okinawa Islands), and Iriomote-jima island (Yaeyama Islands). Thus, the presently reported specimens, described here in detail, represent the first records from the Satsuma Peninsula, and Tokuno-shima and Yoron-jima islands, the Satsuma Peninsula specimen being the northernmost record for the species. | |||||||||||||
