| 内容記述 | Four species without determined specific names of the gobiid genus Favonigobius (Favonigobius spp. A–D) were collected from the Pacific coast of Honshu, Japan. Favonigobius spp. A– C represent the first records from Honshu. Favonigobius sp. A was previously known as Favonigobius sp. 4 sensu Senou et al. (2004), but Favonigobius sp. 4 is probably the same species as Favonigobius sp. 1 sensu Senou et al. (2004). Favonigobius sp. A, previously recorded from Tanega-shima island and southwards, is recorded from Chiba Prefecture, Honshu (northernmost records) in this study. Favonigobius sp. B is the same species as Gobiinae sp. sensu Yoshigou (2000), Favonigobius sp. sensu Hayashi and Itoh (1978), and Favonigobius sp. sensu Koeda et al. (2016). Favonigobius sp. B, previously recorded from Kakeroma-jima island and southwards, is recorded from Chiba (northernmost records) and Shizuoka prefectures, Honshu in this study. Favonigobius spp. A and B are similar to each other, but the latter differs from the former in having the following characters: four large, obliquely elongated black blotches on lateral body (vs. oval blotches in Favonigobius sp. A); predorsal scales in males 0 (vs. 0–9); fresh coloration in females lacking distinct color boundary in anal fin (vs. having distinct color boundary: basal area yellow semi-translucent). Favonigobius sp. C, previously recorded from the Ryukyu Islands (south of Kakeroma-jima island) and Papua New Guinea, is recorded from Chiba (northernmost records), Shizuoka, and Wakayama prefectures, Honshu in this study. Favonigobius sp. C is very similar to Favonigobius sp. D and Favonigobius reichei. However, Favonigobius sp. C is distinguished from F. reichei and other species by the following combination of characters: caudal-fin branched rays usually 6 + 6; maximum predorsal scales 5; presence of a single black blotch on 1st dorsal fin posteriorly, and absence of yellow band below the black blotch in males; presence of paired large black blotches on chin; dorsal surface of body with scarlet small blotches; distinct black blotches on cheeks; snout longer; head depth 13.7–15.8% of SL; maximum size less than 3 cm SL. Favonigobius sp. D, previously recorded from Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Japan, and Taiwan with the eastern limit in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture (west coast of the Boso Peninsula), was newly recorded from Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture (east coast of the Boso Peninsula) and Mie Prefecture, Japan in this study. These new records of the four species suggest that the species of the genus Favonigobius have the ability to migrate over long distances by the Kuroshio Current during the larva stage. | |||||
