| 内容記述 | Although the standard Japanese name “Minabeira” was proposed by Ikeda and Nakabo (2015) for Choerodon sp. (Labridae) based on specimens collected from Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, the scientific name of “Minabeira” has not been determined until now. Morphological and molecular examination of a large number of Japanese specimens of the genus during this study showed that “Minabeira” Choerodon sp. was identified as “Kisujiira” C. zamboangae. As the standard Japanese name “Kisujiira” was proposed earlier than “Minabeira” and widely used in scientific publications, “Minabeira” is considered here as a junior synonym of “Kisujiira”. Types A and B of C. robustus described by Mabuchi et al. (2002) on the basis of molecular analysis were identified here as C. robustus and C. zamboangae, respectively. A detailed comparison between the two species is given in this study. The terminal phase of C. zamboangae differs from the initial phase in having a humped forehead (vs. not in the initial phase), a red or orange body with no conspicuous pattern or with a dark oblique band from the last dorsal-fin spine base to the pectoral-fin base (vs. no oblique band, but body color different between anterior and posterior body, with a yellow or orange longitudinal band in center of body), and rows of distinct blue spots on the caudal peduncle (vs. indistinct).
