The gasifier was operated over a temperature range of 700-950°C. Two types of sample were studied. Firstly, only Japanese cedar was used. Secondly, a mixture of Japanese cedar and porous inorganic material were used. The main products from the woody biomass were gas, char and tar. The product gas obtained mainly consists of H_2, CO, CO_2 and CH_4. Whereas the product gas yields increased with increasing reactor temperature, char and tar yields were decreased with increasing temperature. When mixing porous inorganic material into woody biomass, tar yield was lower than that for the experiment corresponding without porous inorganic material. On the other hand, the product gas yield in case of porous material addition was higher than that for the experiment corresponding without porous inorganic material.
