After the sample had been filtered, the residue was dried and weighed, and the filtrate was analyzed for SO_4^\u003c2-\u003e, Cl^-, and water-soluble matter as Well as for pH. The average monthly falling dust at eight locations in Kagoshima City was 29g･m^\u003c-2\u003e･month^\u003c-1\u003e, which was considerably lower than was observed in the last fiscal year, by ca. 80g･m^\u003c-2\u003e･month^\u003c-1\u003e.\nThe falling weight of water-soluble matter was similar to that for the last fiscal year. The frequency of acidic rain was much less than that for the last fiscal year,\nas a result of the fact that the falling dust was much less than during the last fiscal year. NO_2 air pollution was measured by use of the “Filter-badge method\".
