This study comprises a research on the lot sizes of Samurai residents of old towns such as Kamou, Takaoka, Iriki, Chiran, Izumi and Okuchi. These old towns were called ''FUMOTO'' in ''Satsuma Han''. We hoped to find out the principles of subdivision plannning by measuring the size of lots on which there were over fifty Samurai dwellings in each town. As a result of these measurments, we found that the size of the lot gets smaller as the distance from ''Okariya'', the official area, is greater. |
