"バイオマス起源の電力料金に対する鹿児島市民の意識調査を行った。アンケート調査は2001年3月に,電話帳で系統的に抽出された500人を対象として行ったところ,163通(33%)の有効回答を得た。回答者の内,約95%が環境問題に関心があった。自然エネルギーに関する認識は,風力,太陽光,水力,地熱,バイオマスの順であった。二酸化炭素排出削減のために化石燃料の使用を減らすべきであると考える割合は95%であった。そのための代替エネルギー源しては期待しているものは,太陽光,風力,地熱,波力,バイオマスの順であり,バイオマスヘの期待は29.4%に過ぎなかった。約75%の方が,自然エネルギーのために割高な電力料金を支払う意志を示し,その平均金額は約1,200円であった。電力会社等が実施しているグリーン電力基金制度に比べて,約2.5倍の支払い意志を持つことが分かった。",
