| 内容記述 | This study is an attempt to analyze the discourse of discriminatory graffiti in Japan observed as a linguistic landscape by considering its linguistic and pragmatic factors. The main topic of this research are imperative expressions, a typical linguistic form found in discriminatory graffiti. First, I point out that imperatives in graffiti are not a real command, because most verbs used in graffiti lack self-regulating characteristics which are a semantic feature essential for an utterance to be interpreted as a command. Using verbs without self-regulating characteristics makes imperatives unrealizable, and then turns unfulfilled commands into curses and strong negative desires towards discriminated people (Nitta 1991, p.247). Next, I argue that the self-regulating characteristics of verbs determine who can be the recipient of a command, and a command directed at non-discriminated people can change their position from bystanders to participants of discrimination. This could lead to the spread of discriminatory feelings. Finally, by analyzing the social context of discriminatory graffiti as well as the text of command expressions, this study examined the reasons why writers choose restrooms as a place to write graffiti from both positive and negative aspects. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 本研究は，日本国内に見られる差別落書きを研究対象とし，差別落書きを取り巻く様々な要因を含めて，談話を分析することで，言語景観としての差別落書きの問題を捉えることを試みた。 まず，本研究は差別落書きに見られる顕著な形式命令表現という言語面に注目し，実際に命令表現は「命令」という談話機能を果たしていないことを指摘し，その理由として，命令形として使われた動詞の自己制御性の点から分析した。その結果，被差別者に対して非自己制御性の動詞を使って実現不可能な命令を行うことは，呪いや強い負の願望（仁田1991，p.247）を表出させること，また非被差別者に対しては自己制御性のある動詞を使うことで，差別的な意識を持たせ，差別側への誘い込みなどを行う談話機能を果たしていることを明らかにした。 次に，動詞の自己制御性という意味的特質は，その有無によって，その働きかけが向けられる受け手を決めてしまうという人をカテゴリー化する機能があること，そのため非被差別者に向けられた命令表現は，非被差別者を傍観者という立場から差別の参与者へと転じさせる機能を果たし，差別感情の扇動および広がりに結びつくと指摘した。 さらに，本研究は差別落書きにおける命令表現のテクストから，その社会的コンテクストに分析を展開することで，書き手が落書きを書く場所としてトイレを選ぶ理由を，積極的および消極的側面から検討した。また差別落書きを構成する媒体，道具などの記号論的要素から，差別落書き自体が持つ永久性，落書きを書くという書き手の行為の無計画性と衝動性の特徴についても言及した。 | |||||
