| 内容記述 | In this report, the utilization of water wheels and turbines up to the present time in the southern part of the Satsuma Peninsula is described in full and considered especially with respect to the historical and human geo-graphical causes in each area. It is revealed from this research that there are sixty locations with water wheels for pounding gold ore, mainly in Makurazaki and Ibusuki cities. There are seventeen locations for rice-polishing or milling, eight for producing bone meal, seven for rice-polishing and producing bone meal, nine for driving mechanical dolls, and seven locations for driving bellows and others. The number of total locations of water wheels and turbines in this district is one hundred and fifteen. At this time there are six, i.e., two water turbines, an over-shot and middle-shot wooden wheels, and two mid-stream wooden wheels. |
