The office building was going to be rebuilt because of limited use. The barrels was sure to be designed by applying the ASCE Manual of Engineering Practice No.31 (\"Design of Cylindrical Concrete Shell\nRoofs\"). A loading test of the shell roof was planned to examine the loading capability of the barrels.\nTwo valleys of the 3 barrels were sanded for level. Then, H-shape steels were loaded on the level above a central barrel. The shape steels were piled up to 9 layers, when the shell roof collapsed. \nAt a total load of 185 tons including the weight of sand, the steel reinforcement bars of edge beams of the central cylindrical shell yielded at the center of the beams. At a total load of 224 tons, the shell roof collasped. The experimental elastic-plastic behavior of the roof is shown in various\ngraphs in this paper.\nThe yield line theory allows us to obtain an ultimate load for barrels of 198 tons.
