| 内容記述 | The Education and Research Center for Marine Resources and Environment held a training session last 9-10 August 2004 entitled, The aquatic Environment of Kagoshima Bay. The purpose of the session was to improve the teaching skills of Kagoshima schoolteachers by developing their knowledge of the aquatic environment. Participants boarded the Nansei-maru for a trip to the northern part of Kagoshima Bay. On-board activities included collection of water samples, survey of the thermocline layer, measurement of dissolved oxygen, observation of 'tagiri' (a fumarole) by underwater TV camera, among others. In addition, determination of nitrogen, ammonium and phosphate concentrations in the water samples and observation of phytoplankton and zooplankton by microscopes were performed at the Center's laboratory. | |||||
